Monday the 15th
How are you? Did you have a good weekend? Mine was okay, thanks for asking!
After our Vegas trip (you can read how that started out HERE), we decided it was time to decorate for Xmas and put up our tree. I decided that THIS year I would like all of our ornaments to be RED, since when we bought our tree at Ikea, we also picked up a set of red star and ornaments that was on sale for $4.99! As you can imagine, that went over like a lead balloon. Nonetheless, my kids humoured me and put on only our red ornaments. Turns out, we have a TON of red ornaments! Then the tree was too red, so we added some silver ones. It’s gorgeous, even if a little too full. Hah!
Then on Sunday we went out to the Basics For Babies fundraiser at the Langley Events Center. Shook hands with Clay (Karen was FAR too busy gabbing to say hello!) but didn’t get much of a chance to chit chat as he had to go back on air. It’s fun to see them broadcasting live, and at such a great event too! I was shocked at how few people turned out for it, though I’m sure people came and went and the overall attendance was grand. We spent almost 3 hours there – the kids had an absolute blast!!! We will definitely go again next year, and I will start a donation bin for it in September so we can stock up on baby stuff. I’d like to chip in soy-based formula, baby wipes, and bum cream… got some?? 😀
As Christmas nears, it’s as we feared, contests wane, and our wallets drain.
But there are still a few things going on this week:
The Peak was putting notices on cars in random parking lots this weekend. If you got one, you have to listen at 7, 11, 2, 5, and 7. If they say your license plate number, you have 10 minutes to call them back. If you do, you win $1000. I did not receive one of these magical notices, so I will not be tuning in. Blah. LOL! I noticed that Brianna put in her two cents about this contest on their Facebook post, saying:
“Lame, your (sic) gifting to ppl that drive and can already afford cars (most likely all the winners will drive luxury cars) instead of public transiter’s (sic) who probably need the money way more! Also the people who drive but did their shopping earlier than sat are out too…doubly lame. Like the idea of giving but the contest is a little narrow focused and not fair to all!”
Can’t say I disagree with her… though not every contest can be fair for everyone (not all listeners can listen at 7, 11, 2, 5, and 7, for example). At first I thought the contest was really neat, but since they didn’t tell us WHICH parking lots they’d be giving them out in, or how many they were giving out, it seems a bit… lame, I guess. :-/ Ah well, The Peak is super cool and fun, so they are forgiven! 😀

Before we get this show on the road, I would like to say a special thank-you to Stacy who sent me my FIRST Christmas card of the year!
