The Waking Crew (aka the PACK = Purvey And Clay, Karen) is heading out SHMOOZING! If you’ve even wanted to pinch Purvey’s cheeks or feel Clay’s biceps or share a laugh-snort with Karen, NOW is the time!

Their New Year’s resolution is to meet 1000 fans by the end of the month. While this may seem like an easy task for such popular local celebrities, it’s really not. These people are BUSY! They have families, commitments, lives. Oh, and a JOB. So if you make it worth their while, they will show up and shake hands, hold babies, take selfies.

Let’s break it down: 1000 people in 26 days. That’s about 39 people per day. Or 143 people per day over the weekends. That’s about 40 small weddings/barmitzvahs/anniversary parties, or 7 larger celebrations. If they spend the afternoon going around to peoples’ work places (maybe invite them to your lunch meeting), they could get 40 – 50 people per day.

But who has that kind of time?? Clay has auditions, Karen has a dog to walk, Purvey has his parents’ basement to move out of. The more JRFM listeners in one place, the better. I guarantee they will be getting invites to emcee at weddings this month. Oh, I hope they get invited to cut the ribbon at a store opening or smash champagne at a yacht launch! If they fall short, that last weekend may be spent at Rooster’s or The Bourbon…

I wonder what would happen if we just stopped them on the street and asked for a selfie? It probably happens to them all the time. I’m not saying you should stalk their Twitter to see where they are, but if you happen to see them out and about, like at the gym, would they oblige? They could get an extra 5 or 10 people per day each if they did… but would it be creepy? There’s some comfort in being with a group – always some way to get out of an uncomfortable conversation – but on your own, you are pretty much trapped. Heh, heh…

I look forward to seeing the 1000 pictures – will they be posted on the JRFM website or on Facebook? This undertaking deserves its own page. And a prize for the funniest selfie. Bonus points if you photobomb one!

A thousand bones isn’t much, considering they give away $1000 per day sometimes. But this is merely a nice thank-you for listening. Okay, it’s a bribe, but whatever. It’s a GREAT way to start off the year and get us primed for next week when RED SOLO CUP returns! EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I am beyond excited for this game! I love, love, LOVE it! It was the most exciting game of 2014, as I mentioned in my review of 2014 contests HERE.
