Friday May 15th

Posted on May 15, 2015

Is it Friday again?! Where did this week go?! It’s a total blur. And now we have a long weekend – those are SO much fun when you are poor (sorry, did I drip sarcasm on your computer??) Playland opens Saturday, but this troupe is heading to the library and maybe the Play Palace if I can scrape together $8.

Anticipating a cost-free weekend (and bored kids fighting), I came up with a great idea: after the kids were asleep, I snuck downstairs and dug out an old, old box of things I’ve been lugging around for decades. I sifted through layers of old photo albums, Archie comics, memories, and finally found it! The container of old coins that I collected during my years as a cashier! I picked out about 20 coins from the late 50s and early 60’s and stuck them in my pocket. In my search for the coins I had come across an old-style coke bottle – I think it was from a plane trip in the 80s (seriously, why do I have these items?!) So I found a piece of lined paper and a pencil, and in cursive writing that I think looks like a kid’s, I wrote:

“I lived in this house for many a year, Sometimes I hid my coins most dear, If you find them they are yours, Look in crevices and under floors, In the trees and under rocks, But probably not in your socks.”

I dated it 1963, rolled it up and stuck it in the bottle. I then went in our new big back yard and hid the bottle someplace where I think they may “find” it easily. Then I took those coins and hid them around the yard in places that aren’t too obscure – sidewalk cracks, tree stumps, under rocks. I even hid a few in their closet where the new floor meets the old floor. Most of the coins are nickels, but there was also a silver dollar, silver dimes, and a few other cool ones. If they are never found, no biggie. But won’t they have fun looking for them, especially if I “find” the first one! The beauty of it is that as they find them I can always hide more – it’s an endless treasure hunt! Hyuk.

I didn’t tell hubby about this so it’ll be interesting to see if he thinks it’s real when the kids show him the note and coins…LOL!

Ok, moving on. Today is the last day of Payroll and Jack’s Win at Work. Whew!! *happy dance*

1K A Day probably ends too. Also the e-transfers from QMFM probably end, not sure about Virgin yet.

I’m not sure about Cash or Car, I think that might go till month end. I will have a look on the weekend.

Breakfast Television has some Breville goodies at 6:10, 7:10, and 8:10.

LG’s song will happen between 9 and 9:30.

Listen for a U2 song on Rock 101 during Willy’s show and be caller 10 to win U2 tickets.

Oh, and don’t forget it’s Lotto Max day – I will post our ticket sometime around noon!
