Monday Nov 16th

Did I tell you I won tickets to see Seinfeld? My husband was over the moon excited – it would’ve been an item on his bucket list if he had one. The show was this weekend and it was incredible! The opening act was sooooo funny, but in a cool and calm kind of way. I was grateful for that because that saved my exhausting guffawing for Seinfeld – my face hurt by the half way point! Nobody heckled him, there weren’t any groaners, and it was a pretty family-friendly show (there were a few kids there). The only part that made me squirm was when he came out for his encore. He answered questions from the audience and every time someone asked him a question, I sunk lower into my chair. The questions were inane, asking about things relating to the Seinfeld shows. “Where’s Kramer?” asked one obviously high moron. Even Jerry was confused. “You know he’s fake, right?” LOL! Four more ridiculous questions followed, and we pitied Jerry. If you missed him, I’m sorry for you – I doubt he’ll come back, he probably thinks we’re all idiots! Ugh.

Moving along…

The Peak is playing Smarty Pantz Perfect 10 again. We start off with a fresh set of questions this morning at 7am. Remember:

  • if you play and lose, you can’t play the same 10 questions but can play again once a new set of questions starts
  • if you play and win, you can’t play again
  • the Host’s decision is final – if you think you’re right but host says you’re wrong, host wins (but they have shown that they will make amends if they eff up!)

JRFM is taking a break. Still some fun things to win with Secret Word and U-Turn though.

QMFM is giving away those trips to Punta Cana at 7:05. I wish they were taking qualifiers 3 times per day and then calling a winner – it would give others a chance to get in on it. If they took a qualifier at 6:05, 7:05, and 8:05, they could draw a winner at 8:30. THAT would be so much more fun, and keep us tuning in all morning!

Virgin is sending folks to Mexico again this week, be caller 94 at 8:10 (or save your fingers and start dialling at 8:20 instead). I’m glad they stopped talking to caller 93 – that was painful. They (and QM) have Justin Bieber tickets this week, so I’m guessing other stations will have them too – keep your ears open!

TSN has a new text-in contest: win 2 tickets to watch the Canucks in the Big White Ski Resort suite at Roger’s, plus 2 passes to ski Big White. Listen for the daily code word during the Bro Jake Show, and text it to 104040. If you don’t text, that’s okay – you can also enter via e-mail. Just send an e-mail with your name, address, age, phone number(s), and the code word to contests@tsn1040.ca. Only ONE entry per day per person, so either text OR email, but don’t do both. This contest goes for 2 weeks and the winner is drawn on Nov 30th.

Larry-oke on LG has Hopscotch tickets, and Z95.3 is laying low. Or ARE they???? 😉

Kiah and Tara Jean are back from vacation, but are they back to work?? I guess we’ll find out this morning. There are at least two more weeks of Win at Work, which I’m not minding this time around because the prizes are larger and more varied than last time. The lowest prize I’ve heard is $150, the highest was $5000. Nice!

Kiss is taking qualifiers for another trip to Jamaica at 8, 10, 2, 5, and 8. Text in to win, they take 5 qualifiers each time.

This is the last week for the Rockin’ Paycheck contest on 101. It would suck to get your name called last – you win $250 but that’s as high as it will go, and your name will probably never be called again. Blah! They should make the last person’s name be worth $500. Just because. 😀

This is also your last week to win a trip to Mexico on CFOX. Just for qualifying, you will win a $50 gift card to Chronic Tacos.

I hadn’t heard of Chronic Tacos before but I was looking forward to trying it out with the gift card I won a few weeks ago. We waited for the perfect time to go – when the kids were home with Grandma and we could enjoy a meal and a beer alone. Grandma leaves on Tuesday, we were running out of time, so we decided to hit it after the Seinfeld show on Saturday. The place was not at ALL what I expected! It was a bar-type atmosphere, much larger than any taco shop I had ever visited. Large tv screens played the latest sports, 8-seater booths lined the edges, a high table with tall stools stood in the middle. On the side was a full-on bar, with the Dos Equis on special for $4.50. Perfect! The actual FOOD was at the BACK – a Subway-type ordering area, with the cooking section tucked to the side but easily seen. High on the hormones released by laughter, we ordered and stood eagerly waiting by the till. When I gave them the gift card to pay for our order, about $25 with the beers, the girl didn’t bat an eye. I guess she was familiar with the gift cards. It was declined. Um… what? She tried it again. Unactivated. Huh. She said she knows that she activated them all before sending them to CFOX, so either they were stored near a magnet or something else was going on. She said either way, she was covering our meal and she would call CFOX during the week to sort it out. She took my number and would call me if they got it working – after all, there was still $25 left of my prize. We thoroughly enjoyed our fish tacos – I’m starting to drool just thinking about them – and I’m certain that even without a gift card, we will return. That girl with the drawn-on eyebrows was great – she knew everything about tacos and was obviously a highly experienced service professional. They need to keep her… and pay her well!

Lots of question marks as usual. Check back later in the day for updates!
