Monday July 4th

Stuff that happened:

Canada Day was quiet at our house – it rained all morning so we played board games and when it stopped raining I took the kids for a rollerblade (I walked, they bladed!) When we got back I had a spare hour so I wrote a silly post about our national anthem. It’s HERE if you’re super bored and want to think outside the box.

On Thursday I noticed that Chris Gailus, the Global TV newscaster, has blocked me on Twitter. This was perplexing, as I’ve never tweeted him (that I remember anyway). I wouldn’t have any reason to do so! I suspect the fact that he works for Corus may have something to do with it. Maybe he had a water-cooler discussion with HWSNBN or HWSNBN2 and decided in a show of solidarity to block my ContestsVan account. Huh. Well, I guess if I really care what Chris has to say, I could look him up on one of my other 4 accounts. But I don’t see that happening… he’s probably a nice guy, but clearly easily swayed. I mean, why would you hate on someone just for tweeting about contests? Or maybe he’s not trans-gender friendly and is offended by my posts about my son? Hahahaha! If that’s the case, good riddance. Since we’ll never know the real reason, I shall just *shrug* and move on – now that I think about it, his opinion means nothing to me.

I was listening to the Peak this weekend and they had a couple of new guys doing the weekend morning show – I can’t remember their names and they aren’t on the website. They tried to have banter but there was a lot of dead air, awkward pauses, and lots of negativity. Separately they might be okay, but together it’s not so great. It was painful to listen to, and I was thrilled when Jawn Jang came on later.  I hope they aren’t a regular thing… But just like with the Gailus thing – make up your own mind! Tune in and form your own opinions – don’t let mine sway you! 😉

Saturday night I went out with a girlfriend to celebrate her birthday. We ended up at The Roxy, where JRFM was having their 30th birthday bash. JoJo Mason was on stage when we got there and he was fantastic! Lots of energy, good voice, oozing charisma. When he was done, the dj played all regular Roxy tunes. When the next band came on, they continued with the rock, and threw in one or two country songs just to appease the crowd. By their second set, we’d had enough and left – they were ok, but I couldn’t watch them. Went for country, got the city. Well, what did we expect – nut shells on the floor and cowboy boots? It was a birthday party – would’ve loved some cake… LOL!

Anyway, I had won passes to the Sunday night party with Madeline Merlo and Blackjack Billy but I didn’t go. I guess I’m only good for one night out every… er… coupla months! Haha! Heed this warning, my young party friends – it’s still fun when you’re older, it just takes a lot longer to recover (even if you only had TWO DRINKS!!)

New This Week:

I got nuthin’…

Zed will have Adele tickets at 8am. If you haven’t entered yet, text 953953 with “Hello” and your name. If they call your name at 8, you have 9 minutes and 53 seconds to call them back and say “Hello. It’s me.” If you don’t say exactly that, your tickets go up for grabs to caller 9! EEK!

Rock 101 will play Revolution. Caller 10 when it ends wins a trip to Cuba. Since Willy et al are away this week and next, I can’t even guess when it will play.

CFOX is still Giving It Away. Caller 99 wins $5000. They gave it away last week so I am doubtful it will happen this week. But again, you just never know!
