Tuesday July 19th
The personal bit:
Ugh. I just got invited to jury duty for the first time in my life. I’m at once delighted and appalled. I feel like it’s a really important job and I’d be really good at weighing evidence, but it says the trial could be 45 days long. DANG!! Is that normal??? That would eat up all of my October and half of November. There are so many personal reasons that I don’t want to be locked in a court room for all those weeks, but I don’t really have any excuse NOT to be there. Sure, I could show up to jury selection naked and sporting a nasty attitude in hopes that I won’t get selected, but does it really work that way? And how would I feel about saying that someone is “guilty”? What if they’re innocent?? Or what if they’re guilty?! I imagine a scene from 12 Angry Men with me smack dab in the middle. And what if the trial is about something absolutely horrendous and I have to hear details about a horrific crime?! AUGH!!! I would be scarred for life! I’m still waffling on whether or not Steven Avery was guilty – how could I possibly make a firm decision when I hear all sides of a story?! BAH! I guess I’ll show up and just see what happens. It’s my duty to vote, pay taxes, recycle, and serve on a jury. I will do it if they want me to… *sigh*
Stuff that happened:
JRFM’s “Win” tab is now working, but there’s no mention of invites to the Patio Party on July 22nd with Chad Brownlee. Maybe that was a post from last week? But it said that Clay and Karen would have tickets and they weren’t even there last week. So… I guess the party got cancelled??
At least they gave us a hint to the YCWTSDB question that’s stumping people (You get 36 out of one.) The hint is “Drop it like it’s hot.” So… it’s a potato? You get 36 from one eye on a potato? You get 36 eyes from one potato? One potato can make 36 babies? I totally just had a mental image of potatoes gettin’ it on…
LG announced their new contest: win your way into the VIP section at Shorefest. This includes VIP washroom facilities – that’s worth playing for all on its own!! But you also get some free food and beverages, so listen at 8am to hear what the song of the day is, then be caller 10 when you hear it.
Willy and the crew were back. Kimmie is the only one of the three who is playing Pokemon No. I mean, Go. Alece got to meet (and KISS!!) Steven Tyler. The dude is old but he’s such a bright light, I would be honoured to bask in it even for a few moments. Lucky Alece!! Willy is more into PokemoNO, and will use his pellet gun to shoot anyone who comes to find them in his yard. Challenge accepted!! ;D
(Actually, I’ve already decided that I absolutely can NOT download that game. I am definitely one of those people that will walk right into a ditch or in front of a train trying to catch the damned thing!)
The Peak has Tragically Hip tickets all week! Listen for “Courage” by the Hip, then text “Hip Your Name” to 88000. They will call the winner at the end of the song.
Barbara Beam will also have tickets to the Keith Urban concert for those who nominated an efficient employee. If you haven’t entered, do so HERE. Then listen 9-2 for Barbara to say the name of the potential winner. That person has 9 minutes and 37 seconds to call back. If they do, they and their employee each win tickets to the show. It still doesn’t say what will happen if they don’t call back in time…
Looks like it’s going to be a relatively slow month, but I’ll keep my ear to the ground and my nose to the grindstone. I can catch the stuff that happens during the morning shows probably, but I can’t catch anything after that – I’m asleep! At 10am there it’s 8pm here, aka well past beer o’clock. 😉
