Tuesday July 5th

Stuff that happened:

Oh that Corus, messing with us again!  Sometimes if I can’t listen to the radio at that time, I watch the playlist to see if Revolution is playing. Like if the kids are playing in the front yard and I need to have one ear open, I have the radio turned down low so I can hear their screams. The playlist updates itself about a minute into each song, so there is plenty of time to see that it’s playing before the song ends.

On Monday morning, they played Revolution at 7:14am. I didn’t hear it because I was doing something else (washing the kids’ hair, of all things!) At 7:21, a friend sent me a message that she was caller 3. I didn’t get that message until 7:29am, so I immediately opened the Playlist. The last song it showed was Tragically Hip’s Courage, which played at 7:06. Huh. I checked the Playlist again at 7:55 and *POOF*, suddenly it shows that Revolution played at 7:14. But from 7:06 – 7:14 is blank, which means they probably had 5 minutes of commercials (assuming the THip song went from 7:06-7:09). Fair enough, but where was this list at 7:29am?? Are you telling me that the playlist just *happened* to suspend itself at the exact time when Revolution played? Hah! That’s a hard pill to swallow… Probably not illegal, but still shady.

Speaking of Corus, a friend sent me an article about Chris Gailus so I had to write a post about it. You can read that HERE.

And the Jeff O’Neil Show was off on Monday, but back on Tuesday according to the schedule on their site. I wonder where they were?? Just taking an extra-long weekend? Nice.

JRFM’s Karen was also away for an extra-long weekend, but she’s due back today. Clay held his own on Monday, but I look forward to hearing about Karen’s weekend. Family reunions can be great fodder for conversation-starters!

JRFM tried to give away $1000 Monday morning to someone that attended one of their birthday parties, but they had a bit of trouble with it. Attendees got a red ticket with a number on it (I didn’t get one so I guess we showed up at The Roxy too late?), and all of the numbers were in a draw done at 8:10am Monday. If you had the winning ticket, you had 9 minutes and 37 seconds to call them back. One number was read. No phone call. A second number was read. No phone call. A third number was read, and finally a winner! Congrats to Nancy, who had picked up her ticket at the Langley party!!

Z95.3 also had a non-winner on Monday. Lisa did not call back in time (apparently she was on the boat and they didn’t have cell service!) so they gave the tickets to caller 9. I had it ringing but I was probably caller 11 or 12, so it rang out.

I also had it ringing for QMFM’s Gas Card-eoke at 6:50am – I was caller 3, 16, and 21. Luckily I didn’t get to play – it was a Brittany Spears song that I didn’t know the lyrics to! The first caller kind of gets the short end of the stick in this case – the second player has time to google the lyrics before their turn.

Every time I visit LG’s site, I get sad again that I’m going to miss Trooper on July 30th. GODDAMNIT!!! They’re playing Saskatoon on Sept 1st – anyone up for a road trip?? đŸ˜€
