Off the Grid
You all know by now that I’ve changed my site – the password protected posts are for those that have paid the subscription. There are still a bunch of unprotected posts for everyone to read, but those that I have spent hours and hours upkeeping are behind the paywall.
Some people are not happy about this, and I completely understand. It’s hard to imagine paying for something that you’ve gotten for free for 3 years. So now I introduce you to your new best friend: @FREEcontestsVAN.
This is a copycat Twitter account that has taken over the sharing of information, and I’m happy to hand them the torch. They will apparently be starting a website and a Facebook page too, so keep an eye out for that. They are absolutely correct – there’s no need to pay for FREE information! And yes, most of the information on my blog is public knowledge – you can get it all yourself if you put in the time and effort. But no need – this person is going to do it for you!
I don’t know who that person is, but it’s clearly someone that has been following my blog for years. Probably even someone I’ve had beers with! I tip my hat to them – I know how much work it’s going to be and I don’t envy them ONE BIT. They can deal with the wrath of other contesters and promotions people – I’m thrilled to bow out!
Don’t get me wrong – I’m not stopping what I’m doing, I’m merely going to be a background player. Off the grid, so to speak. Those who have a subscription to my site will have access to everything that I know, and I will share with them happily. Just like I shared with ALL OF YOU for three years – I loved it, had a great time, but now I feel like I’ve lost my zest for it. Even the suggestion of a paywall earned scoffs and raised hackles, and that just proved to me how little some people valued my work.
So please, enjoy the new perspective offered by the new account, page, etc. Maybe the new person will have more information, better information, and most certainly different opinions on stuff! They will share their own thoughts on ZFX and other guesses too, I hope. But remember to check back now and then – I’ll still be posting the Online Entry links and other babble in the free section, and will still share stuff on the Facebook page and Twitter too.
Hell, I might even start reading the new person’s blog just to compare notes!
