Turns out, Peak had Cultus Lake Waterpark passes to give out all weekend. I had no idea until I was scrolling Facebook while waiting for my pie to bake on Saturday – I saw a post saying they had passes between 2 and 8 both days on the weekend. I looked at the time and it was 2:10. Perfect! It took until the 7pm hour but I won them! WOOHOOOOO!!
That’s on top of the 4 pack of Playland passes I won from JR on Tuesday. My kids are going to have some FUN in August! No fun in July though – daughter’s taking a basketball class 10:50 – 12:50 each weekday which means we are stuck here until Aug 3rd. Boo. But THEN we’ll be having some adventures!
Speaking of Playland passes, I tried to win more of them on Sunday. This time Virgin had them, so I tuned in at 3:40 to wait for the cue to call at 4:10. As soon as the cue came on, I hit redial on my landline and hit Virgin on my cell phone. Both started ringing immediately. The cell phone rang out. Twice. The landline rang for five minutes and finally cut out. The ad says “caller 25 wins” but I’m calling bullshit. They either took the first caller or just some random number, and didn’t bother answering the rest of the lines. Fuckers.
Yep, I said it. Fuckers. Not only is it douchey, it’s illegal. If you say you’re taking caller 25, TAKE CALLER 25!!! Otherwise, it’s false advertising and the Competition Bureau could have your ass. Let’s say they have 5 lines, and instead of answering each line they just clear them out and after the 4th clearing they answer the 5th line – that’s the 25th caller. But they did not clear the lines because mine would’ve stopped ringing. It didn’t. So they either have more than 25 lines (they don’t!) or they’re not playing by their own rules. You KNOW how much I HATE that…
You might be thinking “but you already WON Playland passes! Don’t be greedy!” but here’s the thing: it’s my kid’s 8th birthday in August and taking a bunch of friends to Playland is an AWESOME birthday party! But who can afford THAT?! So if I win us a bunch of passes, we can have an epic birthday party and spend the money we saved on admission on eating at White Spot. The kids would LOVE that! And me too, because I’m too poor and tired to handle the expense and cleanup of a birthday party. I’d rather let them loose at Playland, pay for lunch, and send them on their way. Goody bags and cake be damned!!
Yes, maybe I’m a little hung over from my late night dancing at the Roxy Saturday night. And yes, maybe I didn’t get enough sleep and my head is a little fuzzy, making me more angry about Virgin’s antics than I normally would be. But DAMN, I’m annoyed at them. And also, DAMN did I have a good time at The Roxy Saturday night! The band is so good, they played great music, and my friend and I spent the whole night on the dance floor. I was sweating balls by the time we left after 2:00am! You should’ve seen our moves – we kicked the asses of those younger women… LOL!
Oh! I also won tickets to the PNE from LG. It was for the Village People concert, but I think they will just be regular PNE admission tickets so can be used any time. I would’ve loved meeting the Village People if I’d won the VIP prize on Friday, but since I didn’t, I will go on the night when Chicago or Marianas Trench or Burton Cummings are playing. Maybe we’ll see you there??
Has anyone qualified for Rock 101’s Tickets to Paradise? I only listened one day last week and I heard them take TWO qualifiers in one day. Is that the norm?? I haven’t heard how many people are in each draw, have you? Honestly, if Willy’s not there, that station is pretty unbearable too… I’ve been listening to Nat and Drew a LOT! And JR and LG too, though some mornings I just don’t even turn on the radio.
The first CFOX winner will be announced Monday at 7:00am. Good luck if you’re in that draw!
New This Week:
Jack has a Whistler weekend up for grabs. It’s for the Crankworx weekend, which is August 10-12, and includes 2 nights hotel and dinner vouchers. You enter by texting “BIKE” followed by your name and city to 969007. They will be calling people on-air this week, and those who get called will be into the draw for the prize. If you don’t get a call from them, you’re not eligible to win. The draw will be on Friday at 8:50. If your name is drawn, you only get 96.9 seconds to call them back to claim your prize – if you don’t make it, they’ll draw another name. The only downside to this contest is having to listen to Jack at 8:50 on Friday – ugh! I’m sorry, but it’s unbearable if Paul’s on air!!
For the next two weeks, TSN 1040 is taking qualifiers for an Outdoor Escape package. Listen for a code word each day between 3pm and 6pm, then text it to 10-40-40. They will draw a winner on the afternoon of July 30th. The winner will get to choose between a river rafting trip, a guided fishing trip, or a helicopter tour. I’d take the fishing trip!
The Peak is inviting people to watch the Pearl Jam show in Seattle from their Safeco suite on August 8th. The first caller through at 8:10 this week and 4:10 next week will have a chance to guess what Pearl Jam song’s lyrics the poet is reading. You have to be 19 or older to win, and you’ll need a valid passport and your own transportation to and from Seattle. I’ve seen Pearl Jam and it was a wicked concert – try to win! I can’t play because I won the Waterpark tickets, but I volunteer to drive if you take me with you! ;D
JRFM has Sunfest full event passes on the Secret Word, probably for hearing it, not for giving the word. This will be an amazing weekend – George Canyon, Dustin Lynch, Dallas Smith, Eric Church! *swoon* Definitely worth playing for. I can’t win, and I couldn’t go even if I did, but YOU should!
Luke Bryan tickets still on JRFM once per day. You can log in HERE to find out the exact times the cue will play.
Jack has Cultus Lake Waterpark passes on Saturdays. Text CULTUS to 969007 to enter.
Instead of putting in the links for individual contests, I’m only going to put in a link to that station’s contest page. I’ll tell you what’s there so you don’t have to waste your time looking though.
