Vegas Baby!! Q.
Jenny answered Alece’s call and yelled into the phone, “I CAN’T FIND MY PASSPORT!!!”
“Oh my god,” Alece breathed into the phone. “Okay, don’t panic. Where did you see it last? How long has it been since you used it? Where do you normally keep it?” She couldn’t get the questions out fast enough as panic began to rise in her chest.
“I DON’T KNOW!!! I’ve looked everywhere!” Jenny whimpered, almost in tears.
“Take a deep breath and let’s think about this,” Alece soothed. There was no point overreacting. “I’ll call you when I get home,” she told her friend.
When she got home, Alece located her own passport and checked the expiration date just to be sure. Whew, all was in order. She called Jenny who answered the phone with, “I found it! It was in my travel makeup bag.”
“Thank god,” sighed Alece. “So you’re all packed and ready to go?”
“Yes. How many pairs of shoes are you bringing?” Jenny asked.
“Two pairs – flip flops and strappy sandals. Plus the shoes I’m wearing on the plane so I guess three pairs.” Alece replied.
Crisis averted, Alece spent the day packing and unpacking and repacking her backpack, each time taking out and adding in something different. She hated having to check a bag so she did her best to cram as much stuff as possible into her carry-on. She also brought along her biggest purse so she could put more stuff under the seat in front of her. She was good at this travelling thing!
