Sunday Sept 15
THANK YOU to all of you who took the time to send me a GIF for my birthday. Those GIFs gave me the best giggles! They were the perfect gifts.
With each passing birthday I do another re-evaluation of my world – what’s working, what’s not. What makes me happy, what stresses me out. This blog is my main creative outlet and the newsletter is an extension of that. And now it’s time to change things up a bit.
I’m going to open up the schedule to the public so it won’t require a password, the way it used to be before I made it private. This schedule will have the usual babble about contests but will not give away the farm. The newsletter will have extra stuff in it – ZFX guesses, any clues or deductions for the week, etc. I will send it out on Sundays as usual and we’ll see how it goes. If you’ve only signed up for the newsletter to get the password for the schedule, I totally understand if you unsubscribe and just access the schedule on the website. You do you. I don’t want to add to your email junk and unsubscribing won’t hurt my feelings, I promise you.
Another change for me this year: I am Co-Chair of my youngest’s school PAC. It’s quite a lot more work than I had anticipated! Who knew it took so much effort to run all those school things I just took for granted?! There’s a whole underground system running things and I’m now coming to fully appreciate how much work goes into making our schools a fun and safe place. I’ve always heard negative things about PACs – jokes about the kinds of people who join a PAC – but the tides are turning. Especially when they vote in wierdos like me to co-chair. Should be fun! Ha!
Someone else who is going through some change is our lovely Sonia over at Kiss. She announced her pregnancy on Friday and I didn’t get a chance to watch the video until today. I was watching it while I made my coffee and suddenly I felt a tickle on my cheek. My eyes were leaking!! It was such a heart-warming video it caught me off guard. Seeing her so emotional was very touching and it made the news really hit home. Many of us share the struggle – wanting to become parents, pregnancy loss, fear of losing another, waiting for test results. I felt her pain and her joy like I’d lived it just yesterday. I’m deeply relieved and excited for her.
This means Kevin will be on his own for a bit (six months mat leave?) starting in Decemeber when the baby is born, or hopefully sooner so she can enjoy the last month of her pregnancy (and freedom). Will someone be sitting in for Sonia (Casey-Jo would be a great choice!) or will Kiah and TJ switch places with Kevin? Oooh, it’s all a mystery. We’ll know by Christmas.
On to the contesting stuff:
I would like to show you what lies under my back porch:
Those crates are too small for our dogs, we had them for moving the puppies around. We have bigger crates for our dogs, however I don’t touch them. Needless to say, hubby is eating some crow right now.
Guesses for the new ZFX are in the ZFX post HERE. The password is in the newsletter (only members will have access.)
Mr. Fox is overseas! My guess for his location is also in the newsletter.
New This Week:
The Peak has a fun new prize wheel which contains some pretty spectacular prizes, most notably a trip to Austin City Limits Festival Oct 11-13 featuring Billie Eilish! This is only one of three major prizes (trips) and one of those three is to the UK! Other prizes will include bus tickets, lottery tickets, and tickets to local concerts.
This game also brings with it some interesting rules. Let’s talk about that! Firstly, if you win any prize other than the major trip, you can still play again. All you have to do is wait 24 hours. Plus you are still eligible to win anything else from Peak (invites to lounge, online contests, etc.) Uh… what?!
Secondly, the game play times have changed from the usual Peak times (7, 11, 2, 5, 7) to 8, 11, 2 and 5. Also, the cue to call can play any time between quarter to the hour and quarter after the hour. Huh. So start listening at 7:45, 10:45, 1:45 and 4:45 just in case.
They will be taking a random caller, which I’m not a fan of unless it works in my favour. LOL! We’ll have to wait and see how this pans out.
93.7 JR Country: Cash Cow. Check in on the JR app each day, then listen the following day at 7am, 11, 2, 5, and 7pm. If they call your name, you have 93 seconds to call in to either take a fast $50 or play Cash Cow. If the cow moos before you yell STOP, you lose everything. Starts Monday Sept 2nd and ends whenever they feel like it.
94.5 Virgin: Scratch, Win or Bust. Caller 25 at 7am and 8am gets to “scratch” cards for bigger and smaller amounts of cash. Stop before it BUSTS and you win that amount. Plays Aug. 26 – Oct. 11th.
Z95.3: ZFX. You know what to do but you don’t know when to do it. Listen for the cue two (sometimes three) times per day. Guess what that sound is and you win big cash. The trick is being the “right” caller (whatever that is.) Plays Aug. 26 – Oct. 18th.
96.9 : Mixed Tape. Listen for the cue to text at 6:30am and 7:30am each weekday. Which three songs are on the mixed tape? Choose from the list of 50 songs HERE (that’s 19,000 possible combinations). There will be 38 plays with only one guess each time. Play by texting MIXTAPE to 969007 when you hear the cue. You only get two minutes to text, then they will call back someone who will get to guess. If you guess the three songs correctly, you win $96,000. If you play but don’t win, you get $100 just for being you. Can’t have won anything worth more than $1000 from the station in the past six months. Starts Sept. 3rd and ends Sept. 27th.
99.3: Where in the World is Mr. Fox. Listen for the clue at 7am each morning. Guess where Mr. Fox is when you’re caller 9 at 8am, 11am, and 4pm. Win a t-shirt for trying. More details HERE. Plays Aug. 26 – Nov. 15th.
101.1: Taste the World. Get into the draw for a trip to somewhere each day at 8am, 11am, and 4pm. More details HERE. Plays Aug. 26 – Nov. 1st.
102.7: Spin the Wheel for tickets. Plays at 8, 11, 2, and 5. ish.
103.5: Beat the Bank. Be caller 25 at 7:05 and 8:05 to play. Say STOP before the alarm sounds and you win the cash. If the alarm sounds, you still win $100 to Kobe Steak House. Yum! Plays Aug. 26 – Oct. 25th.
104.3: Nothing new here.
