Sunday March 14

The bold lines are the ones which go over $500. Only three plays were $800 or over, I hope you get one of those if you play.

The Joker was revealed on Rock 101’s game so Willy will likely be giving away $500 tomorrow morning. I hope whoever gets through picks an unopened case to match with the Joker instead of one we already know – as long as it’s not a Tom Petty, they are guaranteed the $500. If I get through I’m picking Tom Petty and an unopened case – that’s a 1/28 chance of getting $5000. Not bad! I actually got to play last week, which was very exciting! I uncovered 91 – Pat Benetar.

***EDITED*** – The Joker case is now empty. The Joker has been revealed and removed, and is now out of play. DO NOT PICK CASE 72!!!

I also got to play Peak’s game and as I predicted, I didn’t win the $100 to SaveOn. Smartass Dustin won it by naming Sports Balls – I blurted out badminton ball knowing it was wrong, I just wanted it to be over. Apparently I’m in the draw now, though he only took my name and phone number – is that what they asked YOU for?? Even if they don’t put my name in the draw, that increases the chances of YOU winning so… you’re welcome.

Though I didn’t get to play Move’s Beat the Bank, I DID have a dream about it last night. I was the right caller and after they heard my name they pretended they couldn’t hear me. LOL! Maybe I’m feeling a little paranoid since Nicole at JR said, “Anne, you have to let other people play too!” I am by no means the most prolific contest player or winner in the lower mainland – there are others who are far bigger winners than me.

Jack’s trivia starts off this week at question 30: who played the guitar solo in Michael Jackson’s song Beat It? The answer is Eddie VanHalen. I’ve had no luck getting through for this game but maybe this is my lucky week! I hate it when they are taking caller 1 or 3 or 4 – what’s with that?! I feel like I have a better chance if they are taking caller 9 or 10 or 16 – at least that’s what I tell myself as I frantically hit the redial button…

This of course doesn’t hold true for Move’s Beat the Bank. I was caller 19 about a nanosecond after the cue hit the airwaves. Shysters.

Continuing this week are Virgin’s code words, Zed’s names, Breeze’s Artist of the Day, and CFOX’s payroll. I heard someone made another nice chunk of change last week because nobody called CFOX back. I did the math and in this version of the game they are saving themselves $200 per day. I guess that’s someone at Corus’s salary – clever.

New this week: JR is giving away a bunch of left over prizes! I see a pillow from Sleep Country, a four-pack of beer, etc. Listen for the cue to call during the morning, afternoon, and evening shows for your chance to win a wee prize.

Sleep Country is promoting good sleep habits for March 19th – World Sleep Day (yes, apparently that’s a thing.) They have give Docc & Nicole at JR, Jeremy at CFOX, as well as Sutto and Vanessa at Zed some lovely Sleep Country prizes. Check out JR’s HERE and enter to win. For the Zed prize you will have to play a game with Sutto and Vanessa so listen for Sutto’s alarm clock to go off, then call in to play. Play with Jeremy at 4:40 to win a fancy pillow.

Rock 101 has a Y2Play pass for Grouse Mountain. Enter for that HERE.

Over at JR you could win a houseboat rental by telling your vacation story HERE.

And the most note-worthy addition this week: Kiss’ Pop Songs contest. Finally!! Listen in the morning (possibly around 6am, but I’m not sure) to find out what song you are waiting to hear. When you hear the song, listen for it to POP in the middle – if it does, you have 10 minutes to text POP to 10456. If they call you back, ANSWER THE PHONE!! You will instantly win $500. They will play the song probably four times that day, but the song will only POP on ONE of those occasions so listen carefully. Please don’t start texting as soon as you hear the song – you have to wait for it to POP. If the song has already POPPED for the day, you can stop listening for the popping…

On a personal note, here’s what’s been keeping me busy this past week: redoing a vintage couch I bought on Craig’s List for $100. I have noooooo idea what I’m doing… any advice welcome! For example, where do I get stuffing?? I had to throw all the old stuffing away – the back of the couch was stuffed with horse hair and my husband is super allergic to horses (and the burlap behind the horse hair, and the cat dander which had seeped through into everything over the decades.) The couch must’ve been recovered in the 70’s because under that greeny-yellow fabric was a beautiful layer of pink, flowery silk. I have saved every little nail and removed every staple carefully – it’s a labour of love. I had no idea I would love doing it this much – it’s the bucket list item I didn’t know I needed! I’ll post a pic of it when it’s done later this month – hopefully I don’t botch it up.
